About the Artist

Alana Gunn is an Australian artist residing in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. Her work is driven by a profound need to feel connected. To herself, to the present moment, and to something deeper that often eludes words. Her intuitive, self-taught practice is shaped by a quiet desire to slow down, listen, and create from emotion rather than form.

With a background in graphic and textile design, Alana experienced a pivotal shift during the stillness of 2020. Like many, she paused and reflected, discovering a longing for a more tactile and personal creative process. This awakening led her to embrace painting fully and pursue the creative life she had always longed for.

For Alana, painting is a form of meditation. A space where thoughts soften, quiet, and clarity emerges. She frequently works with water, allowing the paint to flow and move organically. She is drawn to the unpredictability and gentle transitions this technique creates, reflecting the natural ebb and flow of mood and memory.

Nature is a constant source of inspiration for her; the textures, the light, the quiet rhythms of the landscapes that surround her. While these elements inform the atmosphere of her work, it is emotion that ultimately guides each piece. Every painting is a reflection of a moment, a breath, a shift in energy.

Alana is deeply drawn to abstract art, captivated by its capacity to invite stillness, imagination, and personal meaning. She hopes her paintings offer viewers a similar experience; space to feel, reflect, and connect, even when words fall short.

Over the years, Alana has shared her work through exhibitions, murals, and collaborations with brands she admires. Above all, she values the quiet joy of creating something honest and the connections that can arise from that honesty.
